Default questions about PAINTING your wheels

so i wanna paint my wheels..

i know dupli color makes wheel paint but only in GM white silver black and clear coat

i want RED!

i was thinking about just getting a bottle of milano touch up paint, and then doing the "special wheel" clear coat.. if i primed, painted, and put alot of heavy/light coats on the wheels, would it chip like normall paint???

You don't need "wheel paint" to paint your wheels. Any paint will work.

normal touchup paint chips easier FYI. its why people pay like 200 to powdercoat their wheels.

that duplicolor special wheel clear coat is junk. i did a set of wheels white and then cleared over them. granted it kept the wheels from chipping but after 4 monthes of cleaning and what not, the wheels just looked nasty and yellowish. i re-did them and had a regular automotive clear sprayed over them with a hardener in it and they look and clean up 10 times better.

Chipping doesn't have much to do with what kind of paint you use....you can use most anything to paint wheels.

Painting is all about PREPERATION, if you de-gloss every square mm of your wheel and prime it thoroughly it will chip very little.

that is a shitty write up at best. if you want to rattle can your wheels and have them last for a few months, then that's the easy way to go about it. if you want something that lasts and looks nice, go to a paint store and ask them to help you find a cheap single stage paint or at the very least a durable clear coat
