upper control arms hitting strut mount??!!??
hows it going guys. well recently Ive discovered a little bump under my hood next to each mounting point of my stock sway bar. turns out its my upper control arm hitting the strut tower/mount. looks like it hits on hard bumps.I have aftermarket uca's that have a nut to adjust my camber at the ball joint. what should I do? I bought the car with them already in so I dont know what kind they are. thanks in advance
Buy a set of stock ones and put them in. The aftermarket ones with the nut on the top is just a bad, bad idea.
Also, they are pretty much pointless on an ITR. Unless you need a really radical alignment setup, your camber (in the front) will be fine through normal lowering.

not sure, came on car. maybe stiffer suspension? im running stock struts with tein springs right now. they ride soft, maybe a little too soft.

nice wheels..... are you sure its hitting now or maybe it was from a previous owner that had it slammed, usually i have only seen problems like this when people are lowered 2 inches or more
I got the car on all stock suspension so idk. I think the dents happened before I got the car just never really put any thought into them until now, (i took my strut bar off and now can see the dents pretty easily.)

thanks. I was kinda thinkin about selling them but not sure yet. I just got my hands on a mugen gen 1 spoiler and optional sides and rear valences so I think I might go for some hot wheels. maybe something with low offset or something uber jdm

One of my friends had a slammed 00 coupe and his control arms hit just like you are talkin about. He drove like that long enough for a crack to form from his shock tower all the way down to the frame rail. Cost some big bucks to fix!
Interesting. I've had this problem for some time now on the track car and have just been ignoring it. Suppose its time to take action.
When this thread was created, I soon realized I had this problem as well. I switched back to stock A arms with Mugen bushings and have been happy ever since.
I know it sounds kinda ghetto but i just drilled two holes on each strut tower where they were hitting (On my car). I also used a file to make em exactly how i wanted them. Went over with some paint and it doesn't look that bad. Praise the lowered lol
That's a terrible band-aid for a serious problem. When the UCA hits the shock tower, it does all kinds of atrocious things for suspension behavior. If you don't care about that, whatever. But if you do, there should really be something changed. I increased my ride height, but my stupid front shocks have incredibly limited height adjustment so I'm limited in doing that (and hence the need for some better solution...like stock UCAs).

People...why do you continue to run these parts? The ITR is fine with the camber curve it has (in the front) with the stock pieces and there is no need to change annything except in extreme situations.
i have the same car same wheels skunk arms h&r black springs and never hit anything even with the 15" never hit anything
Actually a lot of people do this. When you slam your car you gotta make sacrifices. My car like this without the wholes im talkin about my camber kits would crack my frame...
And just because "a lot" of people do it doesn't make it wise.

you dont crack fames bud its more like ripping the seam welds slowly apart and watching the pieces of metal welded together delaminate from each other
