Im throwing together an LSvtec with PR3 pistons, I will be using my p&p PR3 head which I think was shaved at some point, but I am not positive. I also have a set of KMS engineering valve springs and a set of Blox type B cams. Someone told me that you cant use aftermarket cams in an LS vtec because of clearence issues, Is that BS or what? If its true, how about with stock PR4 pistons?

You can check for clearance, and that's not a bad idea at all.
There are write ups here about how to do so.
Id find out if the head was shaved and if so how much though.

Thats what I thought, but the only reason I asked is cause the kid that said it is a pretty well known local Honda tuner. Im having second thoughts about having him tune my car now.

You are using VTEC pistons, plenty of piston to valve clearance-as long as you don't go crazy with your cam timing.
With aftermarket pistons you would have even more clearance to play with.
