Default 95 b18c1 short block build

I have a 1995 B18c1 short block and I am wondering what some of you would recommend for buuilding this motor. I am looking to stay all motor and just want suggestions for what type and brand of internals to use. I am also not looking to spend a fortune either. I do need to get a head and intake as well if anyone could point me in the right direction.

ITR pistons, ARP rod bolts, new bearings, gaskets. OEM Rods and crank are great for all motor builds Hit me up via PM if you need pistons, I have some brand new for sale for cheap. As far as the head, look here in the market place for a used head and intake.

what kind of distributor should i use? Is the oem the best for the price or will an msd or something make a huge difference?

How about a B16 head for your build? That would be a poor mans Type R, by the way. The ITR head and B16 head come from the same cast and with a little work on the B16 head, it will kick some ***.

As far as your ITR piston question, they will raise your compression, giving you a bit more power.

Trust me, there are NEVER stupid questions. Keep asking. That and research are the only way you will ever learn.

maybe even use a thinner head gasket to raise the compression a little more or have your head milled when you get it. Make sure the block doesn't need to be bored over before you buy parts. Definately get a b16 or type r head for it because you'll want that top end power. The gsr head has a unique intake manifold that utilizes midrange power and has secondary butterflies in it that will take a second to engage once vtec turns on. The difference in the feel of vtec turning on in the gsr head compared to the type r or b16 head is very noticeable. Keep asking more q's bro. I made the mistake of trying to do it myself when I first started and I wasted alot of time and money.

so will a b16 head bolt right up to my b18c1 block then? Then I assemble as normal? What ecu do I use? And what intake? will either one work or is one better

that is correct, a b16 head and b18c1 block is referred to as "poor mans type r motor" google search it, theres tons of info out there.

gsr intake will not bolt up to a b16 or type r head. Just use the intake manifold for the B16 or type r head. I'd try to get a complete head with manifold and throttle body. The type r throttle body is bigger than the gsr or b16 anyways. And only use the type r ecu if you are gonna use dual valve springs on both intake and exhaust valves. It'll let you rev it to 8600 I think before fuel cut off. The b16 and gsr only let it go to 8200 before fuel cut off. You don't wanna valve float. Plus if you're gonna run type r pistons you'll want the type r ecu because it will be as close to what compression ratio you will be running. The b16 and gsr are 10 to 1. The usdm type r is 10.6 to 1. Jdm itr pistons are 11 to 1. That doesn't count for any milling or a thinner head gasket though. You could also just get a chipped ecu and get it tuned. You'll wanna tune it anyways. As for the distributor just run a stock one if you're on a budget.

look into some p30 jdm b16 pistons. it will raise your comp. higher than itr's.

Stick to OEM dist. for all motor build, MSD is a waste of money and will most likely lead to other headaches. The ITR pistons will give you a higher compression ration which will give you more power and make the most out of bigger cams.
