Another header question *searched*
Yes i searched basically and briskly for an answer with fruitless results.
I got my hands on what appears to be a 92-00 Civic 4-2-1 header (not sure of the submodel, and I dont know as if the engine is a D series because Im not too familiar with prev. Year Civics).
First question is: If it is from say, an older D series engine...will it bolt up to our D17's? It appears as if it would from my observation.
Second...I'm missing the the second part of the header...the 2-1 pipe that would essentially connect the header to the rest of the exhaust system (well duh). To replace this...would I be looking for a 92-00 Civic downpipe?...or would I have to salvage around for the 2-1 piece of the header assembly?
an answer would be much appriciated seeing as how once I get this together I can finish my exhaust and stop getting question about an overly-loud exhaust.
Thanks

No it will not fit, and if it did, yes you'd be looking for the 2-1 piece because the 92-00 oem DP would not bolt up properly. but it wont bolt up any who.. i sure hope you didnt pay for that.. now would be a good time to post it up on ebay
Actually, this topic has been covered, but in very little detail. Basically, there's really not all that much that can be used from the previous gen. D-series engines, on the D17. Especially bolt-on's, since they'll need substantial modification to work properly.
ah alright well thats what I thought..
srry it took so long to reply and bring up an old topic.
No I didnt pay for it but one of my friends did thinking we might have been able to put it to use...only $15 bucks...no biggie.
So now what Id need is a d17 specific header (easy to find...) and an EX downpipe to craft up a proper aftermarket exhaust if I'm correct?
(I wouldnt have had to mod/fix any exhaust if NY took care of their roads and used the tax dollars on paving roads versus whatever else they blow it on...plus I know...we D17ers are Low & Slow.)
