Default Tranny fluild

The guy I bought my car from said he was running Redline Shockproof Heavy in the tranny. So I ordered a case of the stuff, drained the tranny and noticed the fluid was green. So its obviously RL Lightweight, but now I have a case of Heavy sitting in the garage. Is anyone using the Shockproof Heavy? The tranny is an ITR with an ITR LSD.

Those people were not very smart. :-p

I've run several different oils in a couple different trannies and Honda MTF has performed noticeably worse on track than others both times I tried it. BG Syncroshift 2 is my favorite, but damn it's expensive (like $18/qt). Redline MT90 has been working well in my integra for the last couple years, but I have been wondering about whether or not I should be using a friction modifier or something for my clutch type diff. Seems to be working fine though.

i havent had any problems with oe mtf. trans has a good ammount of miles on it too. but yes, others use differant stuff with good results (redline, motul, ect). i think the key to honda mtf is to drain and fill it every few months

On my D series box without a lsd, I ran 10w30 mobile one. On my D series box with quaife and final drive, I running Honda OEM tranny fluid and haven't had a problem. But, my buddy's GSR, Honda tranny fluid wouldn't not last. He runs the GM stuff with friction modifier. He hasn't tried the new Honda fluid yet thought. Oh, these are not street cars but track only cars.

I have a new tranny, and need to replace the fluid anyway, so I'll go ahead and put one of these better ones in there. Thanks for the advice, you may have saved my tranny

Since I have a KAAZ diff, I have to use something compatible with clutch plate LSDs. So far, the ones I've had good luck with is GM Synchromesh Friction Modified and Royal Purple Max Gear 75W90.

A friend with a Quaife and the same trans uses MT90 with very good results.

i've used honda mtf and redline mt90 in the civic. both worked the same.

i don't know what was in the s2000 when i bought it, but i changed to mt90 and absolutely hate it.

the only conclusion that i can make is that older trannies are looser (ha ha) and don't care as much about what you put in them?

What about external tranny coolers? anybody use one, and/or would it help?
Where did you tap into the case, and what pump do you use?
