Racing on the west coast??
Hi everyone, just picked up an EG, going to build it up. I kinda wanted to class it.
What Racing options do we have here on the west coast? I really wish we had the honda challenge (or something like it) here, Basically Auto-X seems the biggest around here but I would really like to get into wheel to wheel racing. I plan on heading out and taking the NASA driving school for fun and education. So I was just wondering whats out there for us on the west coast, where should I start?
Thanks guys

I am racing the enduro series with NASA NorCal. My car is classed in PS2 & E2. You can also race in SCCA. In SCCA, the car would be in ITS (I think). I don't actually have a SCCA license. I was attracted to NASA because I wanted to do the enduro series. I believe that the SCCA only has one enduro in the SF region. Crewing @ the 12 Hours at Thunderhill was my introduction to the world of racing. I kept crewing/learning & started doing HPDE with NASA. I eventually worked my way up to Group 4 & licensed the beginning of this year.
HPDE (NASA) Group 1 and/or the Street School @ Thunderhill is a great way to get out on the track. You should concentrate on driving the correct line @ this point in time. Even though I personnally have never done a autox or driven carts, I will say that they are great way to learn car control.

Not as hardcore as NASA (Nor Cal) or SCCA, more of a "gentleman's race," so less incidents, but still good racing. TCRA has a under 2.2 class with their own race group that Acura/Honda's dominate. Many other H-T members race with them too. Good place to practice before you go "trading paint" in a SCCA or NASA race.

NOTE: I'm just passing this on.
Praxis Racing is organizing a Thunderhill performance driving track day for Wednesday August 8th. For more information check out the site we've created:

SCCA Club Racing classification depends on year and model/trim level. More info and we can figure it out for you.
It would be nice (or maybe just optimistic on my part?) if people wouldn't perpetuate the presumption that it is all okie-dokie for racers in SCCA and/or NASA events to run into one-another. By suggesting that someone wait until he/she is ready to "trade paint" before entering one of these events, you are also implying that this is acceptable to do so once the new driver gets there.
The fact that some people are idiots on the track does NOT make it permissable to damage bodywork.
Ciao!
