i have a VSM jdm front end. Problem was, when it was painted, (i dont know what its exactly called but just imagine the JDM bumper basically VSM) the parts that were supposed to be flat black or atleast i think its flat black got painted as well. So im stuck with a pure VSM jdm front bumper. Should i bother bringing it to a shop and getting them to paint it? or is this job possible to do myself? Also, what is the color exactly. Sorry if its not clear but i dont know how to post pics.
you mean they painted the grill and bumper vents? i would bring it back to the shop and make them paint it black like how it's suppose to be. it's not too hard to paint it yourself but it's the principle that counts...
just tape up the area around where its supposed to be black and u can sand it down with a 2000 grit sand paper to get the paint off and spray it flat black or just sand off the paint. Saves more time then sending it back to the shop, they might consider it a hassle and lag.

i know, the body shop painted the unpainted (black) parts the same color as the body so it has to be painted back to unpainted (black)

haha u cant paint it back to unpainted black. black paint is still paint. closest thing to how its supposed to be is flat black or taking off the paint.

well since you did pay a lot for your paint and if you are uncertain of what to do, just take it to the shop.

haha yea i feel you. Well its still winter here in toronto. so im probably gonna wait till it gets hotter to actually work on it. Im really leaning towards paintstripping it but DAMN, im sooo scared haha. I really dont wanna pay a show just to paint the grill and vent panels black. Only thing i see being a problem using paint remover is when i have to use it on the grill....its so tight in that area..
oh the grill. dont do it on the grill haha. the grill i would actually spray over it with a rattle can the areas you want black. the vents on the bumper try to sand it i mean im afraid overspray might eat up your paint if you tried to use paint stripper. Use a low grit to just rip off the paint and smoothen the area with a higher grit. If you are unsatisfied with the result spray that area flat black too. Thing is that spraying it flat black it fades dark gray over time thats why im trying to get you to take off the paint without spraying it black.

ooo oook. makes sense. Year screw paint stripper hahaha...im just thinking and i can screw it up real bad. I think im really gonna go with sanding it.
Just scuff the area with a scotchbrite pad, clean and dry, mask off the grill, and apply a few coats of duplicolor trim paint. Next time ask questions like this in the paint/body forum or any of the tehchnical forums.
