Si days are over...
So, after I took in the car for repeated bad front suspension, weird popping when steering, driving once in 3rd gear and having it pop out of gear (weird I know), and brakes that liked to fail now and then (pedal just randomly depressed all the way and braked like crap) I traded in my 07 Si for a 2008 Mustang GT. Anyone else have those issues that I had? Warranty covered everything, but warranty repairs at 13k? Give me a break!
with all the problems some of us are experiencing with our cars, i wouldnt be surprised if our civics are worth that in 6yrs. especially with the publicity civics are starting to get on news stations and car magazines.
sorry to here about your problems, good luck with the mustang

Hrm.. I've been having problems too. NEVER would I buy a used mustang though. They depreciate like hell, you could've saved a bunch buying a year or two old model. The car will be worth half of what you paid for in only a few years.
hahaha nice choice i own a 2006 mustang gt also but i got bored of it really fast. every where you look there is another one.. but i grew up on mustangs cant hate em.. 08 civic si daily driver ftw.

Sorry to hear about your Si man. Looks like you just got a rotten apple from the tree. I've had mine for 2 years now (this April) and haven't had a single major issue with it.
Good luck with your mustang.

you'd be surprised...unless you have a serious lead foot, the GT gets mileage that isn't that much worse than the Si...and the Si you need to lay into it to really get going, at the same time hemorrhaging fuel to get there. the GT you can breath on it just a bit to get around briskly. if you just fart around with the Si, of course you'll win the mileage contest, but noones does, because most of us have to do things like merge, pass, etc. the Si is still supreme in so many ways, IMO, and more practical, but we aren't talking a '90 GT here...
but, OP, you are not the only one obviously that has had issues. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1957856 new hondas are not even close to what they used to be when i fell in love with them over 10 years ago. everything about them is worse, from the paint, to the sheet metal in the engine bay, to the companies they contract to make their components...i'm so aggravated with today's Honda....

That being said: the newest issue of Consumer Reports gave the Si fairly high marks (Third in its class just slightly behind the speed3 and GTI) They also crowned Honda as the most reliable brand in the business. I know that doesn't necessarily mean that our cars are that reliable, but i'm gunna go ahead and ride that wave out.

The GTI is full of problems. A lot more than our Si's. The initial quality of the GTI is great, but it goes downhill once it is a couple weeks old. Two friends have had nothing but problems. One traded for an Si, the other is still dealing with his VW.

one thing that i need to point out here, and this is going OT, but....
people do point fingers at gas mileage, without realizing basic principles.
if you make lots of tq, or power, then it'll naturally, usually, consume more fuel. the GTI, ms3...these cars make alot of tq, especially the ms3 @ 280ftlbs stock, and at like 3500 rpm lol, so you are going to use more fuel to have the ability to drive with massive tq at any rpm. gas mileage is a poor poor arguement on a honda performance forum. it just never makes sense because 99% of the time, the car being pointed at regarding poorer mileage than the honda, is making a shitload more power than the honda.

thx.
it's a highlight of a honda to have decent mileage, but it's def not an arguement point, that's all i'm saying!
that said, i wish honda would re-issue the 6th gen CX/DX lol.

2007 Corvette ZO6 = 7.0L V8.........16mpg city, 26mpg hwy. From an engine that size with that kind of power....that's amazing.

Ok, ok. Touche. Its still a hatch. That's the main drawback for me.

the z06 probably got that mpg rating with regular driving and throttle at less that 50% most of the time. if you get on the z06 alot then its a different story. with that much power, that 16 mpg city will go down really really fast. more power=more fuel.
505hp=lots of fuel

True, but you barely need to give the Z06 any throttle to make the thing go buck wild lol. It will stomp almost anything on the road at half throttle. My uncle traded his Camaro SS for an '07 Z06. The thing is insane. It is scary fast. I drove it, and I thought I was gonna kill us, at half throttle. It is pretty near impossible to get all of it's power to the ground in stock form. The reason it is so economic for a 7.0 engine, is that while cruising, it shuts down 4 of the cylinders.
RICO_, I almost brought up the Z06 but wasn't sure if I should. I'm glad you did, because I think it is amazing too. The ZR1 is insane. I can't wait to see one of them on the street.
