i am replacing my valve cover studs and don't know how to/ can't find the middle 3 on my rs valve cover....



and the diagram with parts for sale is this...



it's the left diagram and the studs i need are underneath nuts 21...i do see they have studs 18 and 19 for sale but what about all the others? lol

 

so i called acura, they pulled up the same diagram and the guy does not know

 

theres only 2 different studs either number 18 or 19
im not sure which ones go where but those are the only 2 they sell cause they are the only 2 you will need. you will just need to buy the right quantity of them, which im not sure what it is

That is correct, I just looked and it requires 5 of one and 2 of the other

 

Im pretty sure you need 2 19's and 1 18 because I also had to replace those 3 studs last summer. If I remember correctly one 19 goes in the middle and then the other goes in the far right... and then the 18 goes in the far left spot. Just be careful because when I tried to remove them they were on so tight that I thought they were gonna break... but luckily they didnt. Also while your there you might wanna replace the valve cover gasket as well but you could also reuse the old one if its in good shape.

 

Why do you need to replace the studs and what every happened with that anyway?

 

I believe he stripped the old studs.

 

well actually i stripped the old nuts on the studs and while dremeling off the nuts, i'm going to replace the studs

 

pound a smaller socket on if you have enough room

 

will that break the nut?

 

ok i dremeled off one nut and need to get out the damaged stud...what tool from what store should i use?? and how do i do it?
