Default buying a brake calper (question)

I need to junk one from a yard (no time/money to get anything else) what would i have to look for if a caliper is bad or any signs that it is bad?

edit: this might not be the most wise choice but there isn't any other one at this moment

Check to see if the slides are frozen on the caliper.. also check for signs of the piston leaking.

You can get a re build kit for like 30 bucks i think...

i second this - but, in my opinion..regardless of condition i would buy a rebuild kit and rebuild it just for piece of mind. extremely inexpensive and worth it. doesn't take too long to do either

I'm replacing the one side because i have a frozen bolt in it and just want to save any more frustration. Might as well replace the other one since it looked like it was leaking fluid.

And which slides?

fronts are a cinch to replace..the slides are referred to as caliper pins..very easy fix. make sure you buy lube for them though

You can buy them already rebuilt for about $60 and a core return of $25 at advanced auto.
