belt whine? how long should it last if at all?

belt whine? how long should it last if at all?
I had all my belts replaced while my engine was out (94 h23) and its been making a whining noise and i was wondering how long it should last. (I've been reading through the topics) some say its going to go away some say its too tight? its been about 2,000 miles.
