Solo car class (SM, SM2, SM2L, SML)
I'm a bit confused on which class I should be placing my car under. I'm signing up for a novice class, and while I have gone over the '08 book, I'm not sure which of the "SM" I belong under. From my understanding, SM is for coupes and 4doors, which leaves me into SM2, since I have a hatchback, correct?
I have a b20z engine, ITR transmission, coilovers, strut bars, front a-arm camber kit, stock brakes (rear drums), stock rear LCAs. I also have your typical I/H/E. I will be running street tires as well, if that matters any.
TIA.

Picard also says search, n00b. your in SM. if your a woman, you are in SML. if your missing the appropreate interior, you go to prepared (ep i think)
Thanks for the replies, and I apologize if I pissed you off that much, Lo-Buck. Definitely not my intention to ruin your great day.
I believe I signed-up for the correct class, someone pointed me in the correct direction as I made my original post.

Based on the post you made you have a couple boxes of parts, some tires, and a hatchback. Basically you have a decent swap meet going on. Now if you had mentioned having a car of some sort it would have been much easier to answer you.
So, assuming you really do actually have a car, and it does not have the motor it came with, did it come with a back seat? If yes, SM, if no, SM2. If you, the driver, don't have dangly bits, you get to be in the L class, if you do, then no. If the car has had assorted interior panels, carpet, whatever removed then you would go to either DM or EM based on weight and displacement. If you, the driver, have had various bits removed, I'm not sure what class that puts you in.
Hope you have fun, beware as it can be addictive or worse yet lead to even more expensive forms of playing with cars.

you are in SM. for cars originally with 4 seats!.
SM2 is for two seaters. M coupe, RX7, swapped CRX's, swapped or FI miatas.
since you have a B20 engine swap you are in SM.
doesn't matter if you don't have interior. nobody will care because you will be slow at first. that is just how it is.
i personally think interior rules in SM are pretty stupid. especially since there is just about no way you can legally reach minimum weight with a 88 up civic, let alone any other FWD.
They did change the rules slightly this year in SM. you can actually run carbon hood, carbon trunk now. before it was just hood. not that it will help you get close to minimum weight.
Just run in SM. don't worry about your times. they will be slow compared to the top SM cars. but experience is your main goal.
Are you planning on Running WDCR events? those are tough to get into. you have to be ready to sign up exactly when registration opens. usually Sunday nights at 8pm the week before an event. they fill up in a few minutes. alot of us get season subscriptions. so it doesn't leave a whole lot of free spots left for open registration.
you should go to some BMWCCA autox's. look on NCC BMW CCA website for schedule. National Capital Chapter BMWCCA.
they have autoxs at Baysox stadium in bowie, osbourne HS in manassas, and until this year, had them at Ripken stadium in Aberdeen mD.
These events are much more laid back. and you'll either be in Non BMW street tire, or Non Bmw Race tire.
there are quite a few of us with Civics that run at these events. along with a buddy with a Scirocco. Our friends K20 EG hatch always seems to get FTD though out of all the cars there. damn K's and 275/35/15 hoosiers.
Alot of novices that go to the WDCR Fedex field events for the first time end up hating autox, simply because the WDCR events are like PLAYOFF games. fairly serious atmosphere at times. lots of cars. lots going on. it can be unpleasant and boring to many.
where as a BMWCCA autox is more like a Preseason game. doesn't matter if your tires are brand new, or your alignment is perfect. it's just more laidback and fun.
i like to do both. i'm an SCCA member and a BMWCCA member (my other ride is a 99 m3)
if you do run WDCR, they are ****'s about car numbers. officially they no longer are allowing masking taped numbers.
let me know, i can make you some magnetic numbers for cheap that meet their requirements.
i actually run SM myself with a 92 4 door civic with B20b. though i'm switching to built turbo D this season just for sh*ts and Giggles.

My gf and I are going to hit up a few events the state here in KY this year. She has a tC with I/E and Tein S techs and strut bar. Hopefully by the end of the month my car will be painted and LS swapped.
