pro1 extend driving question

Default pro1 extend driving question

anyone ever taken their pro1's on a long extend drive? like a 2hr highway trip or longer. how many miles have you guys put on the cams? etc, etc...

If you are referring to Skunk2's, yes. Drove car for 4hr round trip at almost 80mph the whole way yesterday. I think cams have 8-10k miles on them.

well the problem is i drive a lot. i do probably like 350 miles a week 20 miles to and from work and bout 250 to and from my parents place,and i was wondering if anyone has encounter heart ache with the cams, messed up rockers, broken springs, etc. this is why i'm asking.

I have been running Pro 2's for ~ 3 years now, no problems with rocker arms, springs, or the cams.

i heard the pro2's have a less aggressive primary then the pro1's but i'll i guess its the same thing. so 2 years with no problems huh. thats actually pretty sweet. i guess i'll just keep the cams for now and change them later if i don't like what i see.

I drove a set of Pro2's from Pomona to Buttonwillow, raced all day and drove back to Pomona. 80-90mph round trip

yea but pro series cams have pretty crazy primary lobes thats why i'm asking.

you should be fine with what ever cam that you run but remember that just installing new cams and valve springs isn't rebuilding your head. new valves and inspected guides must also be done to ensure a long life.

The primary's dont hinder driveability(assuming they were installed/degreed properly) However a bad tune will.
