VTEC not engaging
Ill give you guys the basics on the car. Has a obd1 b16a with a conversion harness. She did have the APEXI NEO AFC on the car. Sold it and a few days after getting rid of it...vtec didnt work.I know that has nothing to do with it just saying. I traced my vtec wire from the ecu and nothing wrong there. Im dumbfounded, i have oil, of course that was the first thing i checked. Any input?
sometimes you have to wait more then 2 hours for an answer.
Are you meeting all the criteria for Vtec to work? Just sitting in your driveway revving your cold engine wont work.
Also did you use the search function before you asked this question?

1 is your motor cold cause vtec does not engage when motor is cold
2 is there oil in the motor cause vtec also does not engage without oil and vtec motors do eat oil so check
3 check your vtec wiring and make sure its right
4 maybe bad ecu

Get a wires, connect it to the + on the battery. Then touch it to the single wire on the vtec solenoid if it clicks its good. If it doesent thats your problem.
Also check the screen behind the vtec solenoid, and check the vtec oil pressure switch.
Look at your ecu if a red light is flashing yours throwing a code.

You kids are funny with your JDM ecu garbage........
If its 0BD1 it wont flash on the ECU....you use a jump wire and count the flashes of the check engine light.......

If vtec still hasn't engaged for you, I would say check the wiring AGAIN, and do you have an obd1 dizzy?
i dont THINK i read that you said that, but i just did the conversion successfully the first time today, and you have to have the dizzy with the obd1 ecu...you might, i just didnt read that you did, so im throwing stuff at ya
good luck man

the only thing i need to know is where does the black wire go that comes out of the sensor for vtec selonoid...it came unshrink wrapped and i would figure id see the wire just chillin there but i dont
You need to be more specific... Is the b16a a usdm engine or jdm? Since you say it is obd1... That doesn't help much.
Well you said it is from the sensor so the black wire is a ground. Just ground the wire to the solenoid. The would be why vtec isn't engaging also. Have you checked for codes yet? Also do you have a check engine light?

The black wire is for the V-tec pressure switch and thats a ground wire so just put a round terminal end and ground it to metal near the v-tec solenoid. Good luck!
