Autoxing the ecsta V700
Well I got my tires
Vilven Tire kicks ***, they are the only place that still had them. I am looking for suggestions on pressures, both for autoX events as well as for an upcoming HPDE. I scrubbed/heat cycled them at 38f 40r cold which ended up 41 all around and the car felt good and quick but understeered too much for me. The rear tires wore evenly but it looked like the front left was rolling over a little. I am accostomed to running higher rear pressures with the azenis, but was running those at 36f 39r hot.

The general judgement has been to run them at much lower pressures - i found 32-33 psi (cold) to work well, and i'm going to bump them down 2psi or so for the next autocross. I was having issues with the center of the tread chunking up on me, but then again with running 225/45's on a 6" wheel, i am sure it is more sensitive to this.

I have 225s on my 6.5" wide wheels, and need about 45 psi in the front to keep the fronts from rolling. A few people I've spoken to seemed to find that they really woke up with a lot of pressure in them.
I may have to try this out both ways next sunday. Chris, will you be @ FedEx field?

I threw my entry in pretty late without realizing I had no chance of making the entry fee deadline. Oops. Since I can't pay on sunday when I get there, I'm gonna yank my entry today. Next autox I'll be running will be THSCC's event at VMP on the 21st. BTW, I did get a bit of chunking when my tires were new, particularly around the edges of the tread blocks. I rotated them front to back each event so they'd get worn pretty evenly, and this stopped after about 3 events. They do seem to be more responsive now. Zobel's wagon seemed to generate grip more quickly, allowing me to make more precise inputs on the steering wheel. With mine, I found I needed to make steering inputs a little earlier to allow them to grind a bit, then take a set.

was this on the teg or subie, and what rear pressures did you use along with the 45 up front? I have the 225/50-14 on a 14X6 wheel.

Ideal pressures will vary with car weight (and setup of course). Heavier cars such as the WRX will work with a lot more pressure. Civics/CRXs can start as low as 24-26psi, depending on ambient temperatures. For a 2800lbsish Accord, start at around 36F/36R and some chalk on the sidewalls and go from there...
