Turbo Testing in West palm Florida with Turbodano!!!
We have set up the weekend of March 22nd to do some turbo testing with the fine folks from TPS (www.tpswestpalm.com).
We are going to be testing several of our heavy hitters on the 2jz power plant. We have 3 cars set up to test and will be testing the S362, S366, S368, S372, S374, S378, S380.
All are welcome to attend. We are going to be grilling out and having a fun weekend of beating on some bad *** cars and making some crazy power. Most of these cars have comparable Garretts or Turbonetics units on them now so we should have some great comparisons for all to see.

i would assume this is going to be dyno testing.

Here is some of the info I can provide for you to take a look at.
We had 2 Supras 1 was basicaly stock with fuel mods and an i/c. The Other was fully built and the engine was good to 1000whp.
Alpha came down from Tampa (Brothers Racing) and was doing the tuning. Great job by the way.
The first car on the dyno was the built car with the S372 race cover and 1.00 a/r turbine housing.
After a few pulls Alpha had a good tune in it and was starting to put some boost to it. A few pulls in to it we noticed the 1.00 a/r was a bit small for the 2JZ power plant. The back pressure getting high was what told us it was time for a larger a/r to make over 800 whp we were going to go with the 1.25 a/r turbine housing.
The car still made 722whp@30psi and spooled around 4k rpm with the 1.00 a/r turbine housing. We pulled the car off the dyno and let it cool so we could try another turbo later.
Here is the S372 with the race cover at 26 and 30 psi.

Here is the dyno. and a link you can zoom in on.

We will make adjustments to the turbine side and will redyno the weekend of the April 19th.
The next car up was the stock car. The S362 was bolted to it and ready to rock. once again Alpha did a awesome job getting the car dialed in quickly and safely.
Once the car made over 500whp we could tell the stock clutch was not holding the hp the S362 was putting out. Moslty because the S362 spooled so fast it had tons of tourque down low.
Here is the data we collected from the pulls. please note that this was on a car with a slipping clutch so the numbers are off a bit. One thing that the S362 showed us was how quickly it could spool up and still make great power. This turbo was making boost at the hit of the throttle and would have been a great road race unit or dailey driver. From the data we gathered the S362 was coming on earlier than the stock twins.
Here is the 18 psi pulls. The higher boost pulls did not show much other than a slipping clutch.

After the clutch started slipping we dicided we would order a clutch before testing anymore units on the stock car. We installed a clutch from Spec Clutches and it will be broke in and ready to go on the 19th.
Next up was the S374 with the 1.25 a/r turbine housing. This was bolted to the fully builts Supra.

The S374 made 792 whp and ran out of fuel.
All the fuel issues have been fixed and we will be retesting all the turbochargers the weekend of April 19th down at TPS.
I would like to thank Errol, Mary, Marshall, and Andy from TPS. I also would like to say thanks to Alpha and the gang from Brothers Racing for also helping with the testing.

looking good dan
i have a customer with a supra that we are getting out of a garrett and into a bullseye turbo here shortly, we just need to compare some psyical dimensions of the 2 to make sure the compressor housing is going to clear the shock tower. i'll hit you up about it later...im actually going to call him right now and see if he's ready or not yet.

We would have been there but my wife's birth day was this weekend. Needless to say I had other plans for the weekend. It has been 3 weeks since I have seen my family.
The next race I will be at is Atco and Englishtown.
If time permits I will be visiting a few shops in Florida and on the way up to New Jersey.
