Default 11.1 compression

Would like to know if 11.1 comp will be enough for blox type b cams? I had plans to go with the type a, but came across a great deal for the type b. I wanted to go with the type a, cause i wanted something a little better than the ctr cams, and something I wont have to rev over 8500 to make power. I'd like a cam that will make power throughout the rpm range, not just peak power. How will the type b perform with this type of compression? And where will these cams make power?

Also between the std and big tube headers. Will oneor the other produce power in certain rpm range over the other? Is the big tube better for high rpm power and std better for mid? What's the benefit going with on or the other? I ave a 1.8 gsr motor.

TIA

11:1 is plenty compression for blox a or b cams. What about your intake and intake manifold?

intake mani is og skunk2 with runners port matched, also plan to port match it to my tb once i send that out to maxbore(64mm). intake ebay SR with velocity stack and filter. gsr head has been milled 0.040 and a mild port. Header right now is a obx top half, with itr bottom half with 2.5 pipe from primaries to my cat. That's why i asked about the std & big tube header. will probably run crome for tuning.

Ok, so you will be running a sk2 manifold with blox b cams on a 11.1 compression ratio GSR motor.

I would suggest the standard tube size. The big tube for your set-up won't make as much power in the mid-range as the standard tube. You might make a little more power at the topend but it will be peaky.

It's hard for me to decide. The price of the type b is hard to pass up, but this car is suppose to be my dd, and I didnt have any plans to put a lot of money itno this motor. I pretty much just wanted to go with cams better than the gsr cams. I have itr valvetrain, so i was set on the type a. And probably a hytech replica, and get tuned. I cant seem to find much info on the type a, I want to know If those cams would give me the power in the rpm range Im looking for. And net me some where between 180-190whp & 120-130trq curve.

Jw are you talking about the blox b's that are FS right now for 200 dollars?? As you know I made 182.7whp without aftermarket cams........I'm positive that both cam choices will provide you with the power you desire.

yeah, but with the b's, I would have to upgrade to vs&retainers. With the a's i could run those on my R valvetrain and use that money for vs&retainers for a replica header. Im leaning more towards the a's, but just think later down the line I will want more. But this car wasnt suppose to get any thing done, just for point a to b and money was suppose to go into a dseries build for my 90 hatch
. Damn honda's. lol

I actually sold the shell and had plans to put my gsr motor in my 90 hatch. I just recently got the car back with motor back in it. And now it seems the plans for the dseries build is on hold. haha I guess I missed the B more than I thought

From what I understand, both the A's and B's have stock like primaries and therefore will make the same power before VTEC and all their power in VTEC. The B's will just continue to make more power and further than the A's. IF lower end mid-range power is what you're after and you only want slightly better than CTR/ITR cams, then look for some BC 3's.
