Default Ep3 - poor MPG!

I am getting 24mpg with about 40% freeway miles and 60% local driving. This is much less than what I had expected before I bought the car. Honda official spec for EP3 shows 26 city and 30 hwy. I was thinking with city and hwy mixed driving I would get least get to 26mpg. But ****, mpg on the EP3 is very disappointing.

Change oil, tune up, and realize it's colder outside...you're not going to get the best gas mileage during the winter season.

Check your tire pressure. Factory spec on OEM tires is 30psi but I run mine at 35psi. It helps out.

Bwahhaha! the statement "Official Specs" is a joke when comparing MPG's...

you have to take into consideration the type of gas you buy,
mods,
driving style,
weather,
road conditions,
tire press,
traffic,
stoplight times,
etc,
etc...
--------------
i always look at the "LOW" end of the OFFICIAL SPECS!
(it's most likely what i end up at!)
and sure enough, i've been averaging 27mpg for the past year!
Not bad since i'm in "WOT!" Mode 1/2 the time!

i keep track of MPG because my dad has a Prius, and we compare notes-
he can get almost 80MPG! -but he drives like a 99 year old on Valium...

and after owning a GMC Conversion Van that got 9 MPG, i'll take ANY car that gets 25+ MPG!

I drive with WOT mode a good percentage of the time and I still get between 26 and 28 all the time..

Hmm..

As you can see, the lowest average is around 26...
if your getting 24MPG and driving fairly normal, THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG!

Take it in and have someone (who knows what they're doing) look at it!
it may be a simple problem like "Vacuum Leak" or something big like "Rings are shot!"
nobody knows until you have them look at it!

Gas mileage is NOT what this Si was made for... it's too sporty- hard to keep the foot off the pedal!

SURE! ...they threw the A3 with E-VTEC to help us a little,
But it really Hindered us more than anything, because most of us are NOT worried about gas!
(Unless they are trying to put more gas into the chambers faster!)
We're worried about MORE WHP- no matter how much gas it takes!

I get 26-28 mpg with my catless/defouled EP in the summer. Your figures are low.

And definitely this because air compresses when cold:

If you're MPG went down drastically, I would still go for an oil change and a full tune up. Check your tire pressure as well. There are alot of things that could hurt your gas mileage.

Do basic maintenance like air filter, spark plugs....as stated above.

For comparison
2003 Si
Rev Hard kit on 10psi, 650cc inj, Walbro 255L, base RSX trans
Average of 25mpg for spirited driving, 30mpg highway only
It sees 10psi everytime I drive it!
