I don't think you will reach 240 with that set up, maybe around 180-205 at the most. If you want more HP you're just gonna have to go turbo.

Also you might want to check this out https://honda-tech.com/zeroforum/44

you will need much more than that to get 240whp na.

My buddy has a fully built b20/vtec 84.5 he makes 220whp.

The only other thing he could have possible done to gain more hp was to use ctr pistons, but he would almost need to use race gas at that point.

240 is going to be tough. and will probably not even be worth the effort.

That gives you an example of how extreme you gotta go to get 240 whp na.

200whp is very feasible.

if you want 250 your gunna need to bore, ITB's, high end header and exhaust, junk the cat, port and polish, 5 angle valve job, oversize valves, 12:1 compression if this is DD any higher then you want race gas. tune tune tune

You live in Denver. Boost is your friend, especially at altitude.

Yeah and shooting for ultra horsepower in a street car is kinda pointless, by nature super high horsepower on these cars means your making a bunch at super high rpm, usually it just means your able to keep the power going at say 9000rpm or so but you will sacrifice drivability, go for torque a nice ls/crv tec setup or boost, It seems to be feasible to build reliable turbo cars these days, back when I was heavy into this stuff it wasn't. Of course the k-series engine could easily hit those numbers but thats a lot of money.

make like a grocery list of the stuff you want/need to buy if you want to go boost or NA. both are going to require sleeving, changing pistons and rods, and upgrading the fuel...both you can change the intake if you want and the exhaust manifold. making 3 inch piping for exhaust and getting a bigger muffler is involved in your plan also. but picking and choosing here and there and being on a budget will determine what you want to do, what numbers you want to achieve and so on and so forth. yea if you dump 2000 dollars and put together a turbo kit and get say 350 you are going to get more power then dumping 2000 dollars and maybe pulling 200 hp out of an NA motor. but both NA and boost has its pro's and cons...YOU need to decide which way you want to go. ive considered so many options but am going to go boost because i pieced myself a turbo kit for 1800 and have done the work myself. plus i want bigger hp out of my LS and so this seems to be the best way to go...your gsr has a great NA engine but if you want to boost its your choice...either way i dont care im just offering you help. what you choose, i couldnt give a ****...

Altitude hinders normal aspiration. Hence, boost is your friend.

All I am trying to say is shoot for broad torque as it is why a lot of honda guys have headed to other makes, peak horsepower numbers are fun to talk to your friends about and put up on the fridge but unless it's a drag car and even then, focus on useable power and you will have a much more fun to drive STREET CAR.

BTW. me not posting 10,000 times has nothing to do with my level of knowledge on engines and Honda's for that matter, it's comments like that why I left this crap for so long, but I assure you I was building fast honda's back when you were learning your abc's. I may not be informed on the latest issue of Import tuner or the newest camshaft, but try doing all this bs back in the early to mid 90's when mount kits didn'y yet exist, and damn near everything was practically custom. Get off your high horse, and try offering usefull advice or none at all.

haha custom? wow welcome to my world...you might have been workin on "hondas" since i was building the Eiffel tower with building blocks. but ive been working on car, trucks, boats, snowmobiles, jetski's, lawnmowers, generators ever since i was old enough to turn a damn wrench. so get off your high horse and wipe your eyes since you cant see the advice ive been offering. its good to know your the age you are and come BACK on the internet after all these years of supposedly working on these high end vehicles. so turn off the damn computer and go back to working on your amazing hondas.

Yeah, all I was trying to say is the post about the quantity of posts is as useless as me going back and forth with you on it? It's whatever, a lot of us on here fall in the catagory of having messed with engines or anything of the sort since we could gain acces to them, some of us are just better at it. I happen to work in the field as a proffesional by choice, but im not going on here to qoute credentials, my comments on here are productive and simply opinions formed from my experiences, and just because people don't post dosn't mean they don't read? I like the comment about these being "high end" cars, heheh.

Sorry a good thread had to be cluttered with this bs.
