need help launchin my geezer..
just mess around and see what feels best. Alot of it depends on your tires too. You don't want excessive wheel hop and you don't want to be bogging down....find your "sweet spot" so to say.

Go get it tuned and ask them to put in a 2 step at 4k. That way you can press your gas pedal all the way to the ground and launch at 4k. Genious? Damn right it's GENIOUS!
how much is it to get it tune and do i need a chipped ecu or no? cuh im runnin on my stock p72 ecu right now.. low on my budget.quit my job and outta money for now.. but im thinkin about gettin it and doing a dyno on it.. how much whp and torque should i be gettin with these modds untuned. its an 13 years old motor so i dont think its over 180 yet

You do not need a chipped ECU as they will chip it with the tune, it will cost extra anywhere from 70 to 100 dollars to chip it. I suggest a street tune, then a dyno tune because a dyno tune is tuned at full throttle, which gives u great higher end, but i know alot of people get screwed at lower end. a street tune will tune at all rpms. street tune will probably be from 100 to 150 per hour. My tuner does it up here 150 flat regardless of how many hours it takes to tune, but thats in seattle, wa not cali; then do a dyno run to see ur power. ull probably have 180 whp or a little higher with tuning and that set up. Want real power? Put in a b16 LSD tranny, my friend did that and ***** so much faster, ull def. hit 190 whp wit that set up tuned.

I didnt know changing trannys made more power...

haha thats what i was thinking...
I launch between 6k-6.5k and feather the clutch. Ive nailed around 2.21 60' with this method. If I mess up and the wheels spin than I end up with anything between 2.3-2.5.

No but shorter gear ratios allow you to stay into the higher RPMs longer thus giving you more rotations between 7-9k at higher speeds. This meaning u can stay in between 7-9rpm through 40-100+ mph. I'm not sure of this, but it makes sense. On a LS if you switch at 8k your rpms drop to like 5500, on a b16 im not sure but hypothetically if you were switching gears at 8k and next gear ur at 6k, you are doing more rpms constantly and gaining speed faster. Anyone confirm?

A transmission will not yield 10 more horses.
Now back to the topic. Like stated, you will have conduct some trails yourself to see which will give you the best launch.
