Default Rules?

Can anyone direct me to the rules on posting/IM under a new account? I already searched "Forum rules" "website rules" and "HT rules" with no luck. i thought it was only 5 days of restriction... there is a car for sale in the classifieds that i want to check a price on and i cant reply or IM.

You should have no restrictions as you are an unrestricted user.

I don't think posts have anything to do with it. Just time.

You were a trial member because you just signed up, I forgot how long the trial period is but it's over for you, now, you're a regular user. You can IM now.

Everyone is a trial user when they first sign up. From talking with a mod, it looks like to get past the trial membership, you have to be a member for a week and post at least once.

This is why I could have made an account three years ago and never have posted under it and it'd still be a trial user account.

It seems some people aren't trial for that long though, which makes me wonder if mods can just hurry them through.

I've began typing up a thread to explain trial membership to new members, but I want it to be okayed by a moderator before I post it. If it gets posted, I'd hope it'd become a sticky.
