Default shifting gears problem!!

aight so this is the deal...say i'm goin from stop to go in 1st gear... sometimes, i'll take first gear to around 4 - 5 rpms...then skip second, and go straight to third...but the thing is when i punch it to third...i feel somethin like teeth grindin...now to me, i'm scared about somethin goin wrong, and idk if its bad or not...i was thinkin that since vtec kicks in at 55 rpms, i figure my cams are like transitioning into vtec at this point or somethin...either that or my synchras are expletiveed up or somethin..i have no clue...u guys know by any chance? it also happens with 5th gear too...if i shift from 4th to 5th, i'll feel teeth grinding a lil bit...so idk what the expletive it is but i need help...any comment is great...thanks a lot guys

sounds like your synchros to me....happen in my DA first second gear would grind...then third...then fifth. it'll start slightly then begin to almost slap as it gets worst...as a precaution try changing your tranny fluid....try synchromesh or honda MTL/MTF and see if that helps

You have to think about what syncros are doing and what you are doing to them. Syncros speed up (or slow down) the input shaft so that the input and output speeds match and you can get the damn thing into gear. Obviously if you skip second you are asking more of the syncro because the input/output shafts are spinning way different speeds (more so then if you went to second gear). It really shouldnt be a problem, but I dont imagine your tranny is a spring duckling either.
