Nice find!
He spoke at my power plants class years ago, very impressive. As far as I know, alot of his work is with V8s but definety worth the read when you come across one of his articles. I wonder if there is an online archive somewhere?

That looks like the same type of thing Honda is trying to pull off with I-VTEC. Maybe not as driver/power oriented as this is, but it looks like the same mechanics.
