My son has a 90 accord coupe with 185/75/14 tires on the car and I have a chance to purchase 4 newer blizak winter tires at a great price. The tires are 195/65/14 will they fit these rims currently on the car.
Thanks for the reply's

Well, first of all, the tires currently on the car are bigger than stock; the '90 Accord came from the factory with 185/70-14 tires. So if you really have 185/75-14, they are 3 percent larger than stock.

Anyway, to answer your question, 195/65-14 will fit fine. If you have the choice between 195/65-14 or 185/70-14 for the same price, I would get the 185/70-14 instead, since in winter conditions, narrower tread is better (and they make several winter tires in that size, including the Blizzak WS-60). But 195/65-14 is almost the same outer diameter (less than 1 percent difference from stock) and it will definitely fit, so if you're getting a smokin' deal on tires in that size and not 185/70, feel free to go for it!

Thanks for the info. These are WS-60's at $40.00 each
Just wondering?
How does one know the rim size for the tire. If I was looking for a set of aluminum rims for his summer tires . what am I looking for to fit.
Thanks

Go for it! In 185/70-14, they cost $71. So yeah, get the 195/65-14. They'll be fine.

Assuming you want new wheels and tires, your best bet is to go with a reputable dealer. The Tire Rack has a nice assortment of wheels that you can see pictured on their website. As for whether to get 14", 15", 16", or 17", that's up to you. The Tire Rack website can give you recommendations for tire sizes for your car.

Used wheels are another option; you can check the marketplace forums for those.

To save money, a lot of folks get cheap steel wheels for their winter tires, and put their summer tires on their nice alloy wheels.

Good luck.
