(pic) what gear set is the finel drive in thiss dx tranny

whasts the finels drive shaft in thiss pic is it the one that the clutch slides on or is it the second gear shaft is it the top one in the pic of the bottem

because i want to swap my busted case 88 dx tranny finely drive in my 91 si tranny is it pisible

the final drive is the differential gearing and consists of the pinon gear which is a part of the countershaft and the ring gear which bolts to the differential carrier - these are the parts which make up the final drive

all of the other gears, other than the final drive, are identical in the DX and Si transmissions

so i need to swap the diff and the final drive to make my 91 si a dx right only thing i want to know b4 i open my si tranny is if it will work becasue my dx is a 88 tranny and my si is a 91 tranny will thay work together

</TD></TR></TABLE>to put the DX final drive into the Si transmission, you need to just swap out the entire countershaft and the ring gear (bolts are left hand thread) - you can't swap the DX differential into the Si transmission due to the different size bearings - you need to use the Si differential with the DX ring gear
