Default EK9 cluster without ABS

Got an EK9 cluster from a member. I'll all about to give good seller props as it looks in good shape (reds seem a bit faded but got a decent price). Just noticed there's no ABS on the faux CF bezel or even a bulb in the area behind it.

Did not all of the ek9 have ABS? Or was that an Rx type option? Or was this cluster perhaps from a stripper model EK9 (no ac no stereo, etc). Or maybe a 96-98'ish?

Nope, not all EK9's came with ABS such as the 'stripped' all Race Version. I sold an EK9 cluster without ABS or SRS, so it isn't very uncommon.

Does your car have ABS?

Nope. Every auction I'd seen shows the abs symbol on the CF bezel. I'd heard of the all-race version, so thought that might be it. Just curious on the specifics.

Here is my non-SRS and non-ABS EK9 cluster I sold...

Honda made (and continue to make) the one-make race base version of the Civic Type-R.

It comes without ABS, airbags, the lip kit, Recaros, electric windows, power steering, and insulation.

Honda still makes an EK9 type-r? Or you mean every type-r has a full race version?

Honda still makes the one-make race version of the CTR. They aren't easy to come by though (EK9 version).

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Googled &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Japan has its fair share of one-make race series. For well under $20,000 you can buy a stripped out Vitz (Yaris) from Toyota, a March (Micra) from Nissan, a Swift (Ignis) from Suzuki or a Roadster (MX-5, Miata, whatever...) from Mazda specifically prepared to do battle with identical machinery six or so times a year around Tsukuba, Fuji and Suzuka. But the undisputed leading feeder race into Japanese formula racing is Honda's Type R series.

Wannabe Honda F1 drivers have been contesting Integras for the past seven years, but next year's championship sees a return of the Civic Type R to Japan's tracks. The race going version sports the standard R's 225PS KA20 motor and six speed 'box, but has no need for the road-going car's helical LSD, aircon, seats, interior trim, underseal and expensive HID lights, which knocks off not only several kilos its curb weight, but a whopping 40% off the road car's sticker price, bringing it under $15,000 at 1,690,500Yen.</TD></TR></TABLE>

Ah but that's not an EK9. I'd have been real surprised if they still make complete EK9 (stripper or no).

Hmm... so about this cluster... what about the SRS? No light for that right? I recall something in the FAQ about it, but it seemed to be referring to the EG.

Obviously don't expect my Cruise to ever show up, since that socket is also empty.

No light for the SRS since the race base didn't come with airbags. Yes, you won't have cruise control unless you want to swap the CTR gauges into a USDM Civic cluster with cruise control.

Interesting. So the EK9 gauges would work and read right in an EX cluster shell/board? That answers a question I had in another thread (EX base cluster with Si gauges inside it).

Of course, just not having the light means the systems themselves would still work and I just wouldn't have a light for them right?

Everything will work normally, you just won't have dummy lights for them.

Yeah don't really need the dummy lights.

I noticed there is this weird light to the left of the seatbelt light. Looks something like:

(O)

Also, there was nowhere to put the green or yellow connectors (I imagine one of these is the SRS and the other is the cruise control). I noticed that the dimmer didn't do seem to work for the cluster at all. Any input on that?

(O) is your BRAKE dummy light

Green connector = Cruise, Yellow connector = SRS. Yes, there isn't a dimming function for these Civic clusters. Same with the SiR cluster.
