Default Is it ok to install aftermarket rims without hub centric rings?

Hello,
I have already searched. Some said yes and others said no. What are some of the down side of bolting on rims and using them without hub centric ring?
thanks

Been doing it for years now. Never had an issue.

Doesn't mean everyone is perfectly fine without them though. Just stating my experience.

Well, the down side is that the wheels can be (or can become) ever so slightly off center, and this can lead to vibrations. Like you say, some people do it and never have problems. I've known others that do it, and do all the right things when mounting the wheels (e.g. pre-tightening up in the air, etc) and still end up with vibrations. Bottom line, if you feel like trying it, go ahead; if you end up feeling vibrations, you'll know why.

what about breaking studs by wheel not being supported with hub? Can that happen?

Yes and no. The studs aren't going to break just because the wheel isn't supported around the hub, as long as the lug nuts have the wheel securely attached. But that's how what you describe can happen. If there is any kind of vibration because of a slight off-centering, that vibration can cause the lug nuts to gradually work themselves loose. And if the lug nuts get loose at all, the additional stresses can cause the studs to bend and/or break.

IOW - if you're one of the folks who don't experience any vibration without the hubcentric rings, the studs aren't likely to break. But if any vibrations occur, this can set off a chain of events that can lead to breaking studs.
