Default 95 gsr pressure plate used on 92 cable tranny, problems?

I don't own a integra but I do own a civic with a 95 gsr motor with a ys1 cable transmission. Many times from a stand still I can not get my car in any of the gears. I have checked the cable adjustment to the linkage and shifter. I am starting to think it might be the wrong pressure plate/ clutch kit. The previous owner has told me that the pressure plate was reused. So it should be the pressure plate used with a hydraulic transmission. Is the pressure plate used for a hydraulic transmission different from a cable transmission in Integras. Has anyone used a pressure plate from a hydro pressure plate in their cable tranny and experience the same result? Is the wrong pressure plate causing my inability to get into any gears in a stand still? thanks
