alright well i was cruising on the highway , i hear the motor start to knock , only has 120k mile...come to find out it was low on oil...

what is the best solution? rebuild it or part out and buy a jdm b18c longblock for 2600$?

 

depends on whats wrong with it..

Rebuild it if it'syour own labor. If not, throw in a JDM swap. The nice thing about rebuild is you now have a fresh motor.

 

Pull motor... new bearings, valve seals, crank, water pump, rings. Machine shop to check out block. GL on the rebuild. Keep an eye on your oil. Just takes time... If I can do it.. anyone can do it.

 

would it not be easier to part out the block+head and use that money towards a new engine and use the money i would use for the rebuild for a whole new motor with 17k miles on it?

Hell yeh, go for it. At 17K miles, some body already break-in the egine for you. All you have to do is enjoy the rest of it's life.

 

its a JDM swap...2600$ for the longblock, alls i would have to do is swap some things like IM and pulleys over to the new longblock...is that better than rebuilding it for 1500$?
