Default ecu/ motor swap question???

here is my question I have a 89 crx hf and I have a bad motor so today I found a d16y7 for 450.00 and I have purchased a pm6 ecu. will I be able to use my harness and the ecu to run the 98' motor if I modify the plugs and such. correct me if I am wrong this motor will bolt up but will I have to change the fly wheel from my old motor to this one?

search... But since your lazy. It will bolt in just need to use your transmission, with driver side motor mount. You do have to modify your harness only dizzy plug. You also need the dizzy for the motor.

You might be able to use the pm6 ecu since when I did a obd1 engine in my crx si it wouldn't run the pm6 with the obd1 dizzy. Unless you want to do the obd1 conversion. p28, obd0 to obd1 conversion, 4 wire o2 sensor. (So if you can find a obd1 ecu then go for it. )

If your going to get the engine why not just obd1 conversion it so you can have vtec?)

All the answers are here just search for it.

I'm not lazy just busy. I also am not doing a mini me swap so I wont need the vtec. so can I use my distributor from my original motor on the new one?

yes you can use your old dizzy.
It'll probably be held by just one bold, but... mine doesn't mind
pm6 is your easiest solution.
btw, I have no idea what motor the HF has, but keep in mind the DPFI vs MPFI issue. other than that, i'd be an easy swap, plus I wouldn't bother with obdI for a non-vtec motor.

If you need a basemap or something for the d16y7 with pm6, drop me and a line at taraliasnik _AT_SIGN_ yahoo DOT com

ahhh i think i mislead you..
if you use a pm6 then you cannot use the DPFI dizzy.
you CAN use a pm6 only after a dpfi->mpfi conversion and you need a dizzy from d16a6 (Si)
you can youse your old dizzy only if you preserve your current ecu and dpfi.... it's not a great idea to run d16y7 with dpfi, but it's doable.

Yeah u.s spec crx hf is 8 valve mpfi. So he could use his dizzy but whats the point of doing a mini me and no vtec? The whole point of doing a mini me is to have a vtec...

the engine doesnt matter for wiring...it's the car that makes the difference...and the best thing he could do is convert it to obd1 and get the car tuned using a chipped p06 ecu...he would then be able to run the y7 distributor, or if he stays obd0, he can run a pm6 and his stock hf distributor without any problems...

OHhhhhhhhhhhhhh I just reread what he typed. He IS NOT doing a mini me swap. So I would use use your dizzy and your ecu so you can just run the motor. But driverside motor mount and your tranmission, you will have to use.
