Well today I passed my level II certification tests for HMSLD and VT ( Helium Mass spectrometer leak detection and Visual test weld inspection) and tomorrow I will take my PT (Liquid penetrant testing) certification test. Then its time to up the experience hours and head for the big times... Level III. I know this is not directly Weld/Fab related but I just thought I'd share anyways.

I went to school for welding for 3 years. 2 semesters I had NDT, I wanted to stab myself in the face that stuff was so boring.

 

Yeah some of the stuff can be pretty boring, but you get to see all sorts of interesting things. I have done work for Lucent Technologies, Ga Tech, Duke University, Lockheed, UGA, and a bunch of other major companies and universities. And now with my certifications I will be able to begin working on with nuclear facilities during the shutdowns in which they transport fuel rods from the fuel pool to storage casks.

 

Are the regular welding school that bad? I want to go to a community college by me and take some welding classes.
