Update Audio System?
hi again!!!
i just purchased a 2008 civic ex sedan (not si) with navigation. i am happy
with everything in this car except the sound system. it could use a bit more
umph (technical term?). is there a way i can go to like circuit city and get
them to improve the sound without replacing the stock head unit (the gps)?
i was hoping i could upgrade the speakers and perhaps put an amplifier
somewhere under the seat.
im not looking for booming base or anything like that just louder more clear
sound (im spoiled from my 330i bose system) :D

you can go with a nice set of speakers from like MB Quart components. they sound really well. but i dont think you'll be able to fit an amp UNDER the seat, mines mounted behind my backseat and in the trunk

Well aftermarket component sets would certainly give you better sound than what you have now. Two component sets with a 4-channel amplifier and a single moderate sub would definitely give you what you're looking for.
ON the speakers I would recommend Focal 165A1 component sets. They are the best value for the money and have some of the most amazing crisp natural sound that I have ever heard. They are also great with the mid-range as well.
However your factory amp will not be enough to power the components to your liking. An aftermarket amp is highly recommended. And I wouldn't mount the AMP underneath the seat. Even though it might fit....it will be very tight quarters and it can build up alot of heat fast....causing it to potentially overheat. You always want your amps mounted where they can achieve decent ventilation.
All of this can most likely be hooked to the factory headunit without having to replace it via some sort of aftermarket interface such as this one. JL Audio Clean Sweep.

That way you won't present a target by having an aftermarket headunit in your dash.
