Default TIRE Question in ITR FORUM regarding an Accord 95 Accord, + wheel size to stuff azenis's, 215/45/16

First off i just wanted to say it was intentinal posting this question under the ITR forums due to the lack of help and sound advice i usually get under the accord model specific forum, thanks in advance for your help!

Simple Question, Already Searched, need more detailed advice/opinions of people running this setup..
95 Accord 4Door DX
Stock tire = 185/70/14
Current setup = 205/60/15

would like to run = 215/45/16

The falken Azenis RT-615 comes in funny sizes.... for the 15 inch rim it'll be too small - 205-/50/15 - so i was planning to run a 16x7 inch rim however their tire selection for the 16 inch rim is funny too
225/50/16
215/45/16
205/40/16

the 215/45/16 would be closest in diamater to stock 185/70/14, but i was wondering if 215 would be too wide also if anyone as a pic of this size rim/tire please share, i need to make a decision soon

1. Search harder, im sure you can find the clearances for your wheel wells somewhere.

2. Why do you need RT-615's on an accord? Do you really think youre going to use them to the fullest potential?

So to answer your question,

3. I doubt 215's will make you scrape the sides. If civics use them, im sure you can too.

first off, this is an integra (type r) forum. unless people in here are driving similar accords or using similar tires, people will generally not be able to answer you questions well right off hand. unless you really plan to tear this accord up, i don't think you'll really use them to their fullest potential. if just for a daily driver and you're looking for a summer tire, consider the kumho spt or other equivalent tires. a step down would be the kumho all seasons: asx. and then a step down would be all season falken 512s or 912s which are bang for the buck ok tires for a daily driver. the good thing is that they come in all sort of tire sizes...

The topic has been moved to the wheel and tire forum.

205/50-16 is the best matching 16" size for your car. Most tires that size are approved for mounting on rims 5.5-7.5 inches wide, so 16x7 should be fine.

As several of the previous posts indicate, the Falken Azenis RT-615 is a specialty tire which offers outstanding traction on dry pavement; downsides include so-so grip in rain and short treadlife. It's a great tire if you track or autocross your car, or do a lot of aggressive driving; it's not so great for daily driving, due to its downsides.

If you want a supersticky tire like the RT-615 for 16" wheels on your car, I suggest you get the Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1. It's priced similar to the RT-615 and the performance is even better. And it's available in 205/50-16, $103/tire at the Tire Rack.

If you don't want a supersticky tire like the RT-615, because you want a tire that lasts longer and/or does better in rain, my first recommendation would be the Goodyear F1 GS-D3, $125/tire in 205/50-16. Excellent dry performance (almost as good as the Azenis), outstanding in rain, and lasts 2-3 times as many miles.

If you want to spend less on your tires and you don't mind a bit less performance, the Avon Tech M500 is a great deal at $66/tire in 205/50-16. It's similar to (even a tad better than) the Kumho SPT, which is currently out of stock at the Tire Rack (where it's $80/tire); another, similar option is the Fuzion ZRi, $74/tire in 205/50-16.

I wouldn't recommend all-season tires, which sacrifice warm-weather performance for the added flexibility of decent grip in snow and frigid cold. Not in SoCal! But if you sometimes drive to the mountains in winter, let us know and we can recommend all-seasons to you...

If you decide to stick with your 15" rims, 195/60-15 is actually a closer match for your car than the 205/60-15 you have now. There aren't any supersticky tires in either of these sizes, but one good summer tire (similar to the SPT) is the Yokohama ES100, $82/tire in 195/60-15.
