B18C5 to a 97' Civic DX Sedan
So, here's the deal. I have a 1997 Civic DX and a 2000 Integra Type-R. What I want to do is swap the engines. Both cars are manual and run perfectly fine. Are there any extra parts that are necessary to swap the engines?
The DX runs a D16Y7 and the Type-R is a B18C5. If you need any more information, please feel free to let me know. I'm not that big of a car guy, but I may know a few things.
Edit: Sorry, I want to put the B18C5 into the Civic. Being that both cars have all their parts, it should be a complete swap from the Type-R to the Civic, no? Other than getting the Civic wired for VTEC.

you're gonna want a 99-00 civic Si rear t-bracket and si timing belt mount.
here's the timing belt mount part number:
11910-P30-000
and #7 from here:
http://www.hondaautomotivepart...EC%29
the timing belt mount can be bought there too, but you have to put the part number in for some reason.

Wow, those two are the only parts that I'll need?
I was told that I would need an EX engine harness, a OBD2B to OBD2A ECU Conversion, and an engine throttle cable.
Thanks a lot for the quick reply. Anyone here have any tips or other info that I may need regarding the swap into my Civic? TIA!

There's a stickied thread on "What swaps are available for my civic" as well as the search link: https://honda-tech.com/zerosearch
Yeah, I know it's a possible swap, I was just wondering what extra parts that I "may" need. I've searched a couple of sites but never found exact answers for my model of car since it's a 97' DX, which is one of the odd models.
use the dx engine harness and throttle body, but type r throttle cabe. the jumper you need is obd2a to obd2b to use the 2000 type r ecu.
you have to use your civics throttle body if you use the dx engine harness because the type r doesnt take that green sensor on it.

That's what I'm wondering. Is one or both of these cars stolen?

You will need a throttle cable from an Si. You will also need to either take the key cylinder, antenna, and key from the ITR with you so that the 00 ITR ECU will let you start the car. You will also need an OBD2A to OBD2B conversion
Your civic is OBD2A, your ITR is OBD2B.
The 00-01 Integras had an immobilizer.
You can either swap over key cylinders and antennas (and keys) for both cars. Or you can buy a JDM ECU. Those did not have the immobilizer. If you buy a JDM ECU, make sure it's a 98-99 model year. Those had the larger camshafts found on the 00, but did not have the immobilizer, and they're OBD2A.
You will need an OBD2B to OBD2A conversion for the civic. Unless you plug in a 99-00 civic DX ECU for the ITR. I think I have one. PM me if you want it.
Why are you doing this?

No, they're not stolen, lol. I'm doing this because my current engine is getting old and my friend is letting me take whatever parts from his Type-R, as he is getting a brand new car for graduation :tinfoil:.
And I've noticed that I'm getting different responses now. That's why I've posted on this forum because I couldn't get one straight answer. I'm pretty sure that all of these solutions work, but what would be the best way to go? I'm not really going to power-up this car very much. My only plans for my civic is to make it a sleeper. Since the Type-R is free, I might as well put it into my car so it'll last.
I've heard that I wouldn't be able to pass smog, either, if I swap this engine in. Is it true? If it is, what would be a way to get around it? Legally, of course ;D.
So I assume that dteng's way of just getting those two parts wouldn't cut it, right? It sounded too good to be true!

Well, it's kind of beat up and it's a coupe. I like my 4-door.
I am, of course, taking the shift-**** as it looks pretty nice. Insurance would be a bit more expensive. I'm paying for that myself at 17-years old.
When we're done with the car, he's probably going to sell the remains for ca$h.

Get a job?
Get a job?
your friend is giving you a type r motor and whatever parts you want and we're supposed to believe this?
and we're also supposed to believe that you're keeping your civic cause it has four doors.
yeah...i bet your friend has a geo metro with a type r sticker.
