huh? The key has nothing to do with the lights being on.All you would get is a warning beep going off(if it still works) when you opened the door while exiting.

I disabled the light switch but the corner lamps still stayed on.

haha... jk. try pushing the key in and turning your steering wheel?
</TD></TR></TABLE> i know to try that. but its much more complictated. i took off the 15A fuse that controls the stop/horn under the hood and the key comes out when i do that; but the car wont come out of park which is the other problem. Is it normal for EF's to not let you take out the key if the lights are one? because thats what it always does but now the corner lights stay on.

You might have 2 seperate problems, the only lights that the ignition controlls are on the cluster.
But try wiggiling the shifter around while you remove the key, the shifter cable may be out of adjustment, so when you put it in park its not quite in all the way.
Your light issue might just be a bad headlight arm switch

ill check those two things tommorow. i dont think its the headlight arm switch because i disconnected that and the corner lamps still get power, maybe the shifter cable is out of adjustment, ill check that out. Thanks for all the help so far; but i still havent figured it out yet.

could it be possible that your hazard lights button is busted and somehow its causing your lights to be on.
I only say that because this button does not require the parking lights to be on. and iirc the hazard button is connected to that curcuit, , which could explain why the dissabling the headlight switch isnt effecting it. Plus when its on the cluster lights dont come on.
is your cluster lit when this happens?

my cluster is not lit, today i took my car to my auto tech class and looked up the schematic.
the hazard lights probably arent the problem. the circuit with the problem has power coming from the fuse under the hood, that fuse sends power to a headlamp control module that distributes power to all the lights and the license plate lights as well, i beleive its malfunctioning because sometimes the car doesnt even have a problem at all but then it acts up again later. im going to replace that part and see what happens. i already tested the relays so theres nothing else i can think of. Ill check the hazard lamps relay anyway. Thanks for all the help.
