I have the 5Gen set. I tried installing this past weekend, but some items didn't line up correctly. I could have spent more time screwing with it, but I have an event in a couple of weeks so getting the engine in the car quickly took priority. I'm not sure if I want to try to mess with it this year, or sell the mounts. These mounts have the gray inserts.

i have the grey inserts(race version) and it really doesnt shake that bad, i only have a problem getting the trans mount to line up to the chassis, but a crowbar fixes that.

So you were able to get all the mounts to line up? On mine, when I installed the engine, I installed the side mounts first, but the rear mount bracket wouldn't line up on the engine.

After messing with it for some time, I decided to bolt the rear bracket to the engine to see how far off it was on the mount. Imagine my surprise when I saw that it was about 1/4" or a little more off!! I couldn't believe it.

I had to drill out one of the holes on the rear mount, so I thought maybe the mount is off a bit. So I removed the Innovative rear mount and installed the OEM mount. The OEM mount was off by almost the exact same amount. I didn't have time to mess with it, so I pulled the engine back out and reinstalled with the OEM mounts. Everything lined up the first time, no fussing with it or anything.

So I'm not sure what to make of it. When you put Innovative's mounts next to the OEM mounts, there is no noticeable difference in any of the dimensions, so I'm not sure what the deal is. I haven't had a chance to call Innovative about it, but I did contact them about another problem.

I bought their front mount, which I cannot use because I cannot get the front bolt installed. They changed the design from what was on their web site. When I contacted them via telephone, they asked me to send pictures via email. I sent the email with pictures the following day. So far, no response. I need to follow up with them, but I'm busy getting ready for an event in a couple of weeks.

Also the alternator mount fits fine, but it needs to be spaced away from the engine block or the mount hits the oil dipstick tube.

I just wonder what kind of car they did the test fitting on, and did they test fit more than one car? If they did do a bunch of test fitting, what kind of quality control is going on over there?

The thing I can't figure out is that the engine appeared to be positioned perfectly side-to-side, it was just shifted forward 1/4" or more. That's some I DO NOT like.

I'd really like to use their mounts because I want to elminate the stock driver's side mount, but I can't if the fitment is this poor. Maybe it's my car? I'm guessing not, as I've owned it since new, no accidents, and only 44k on the chassis.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do at this point. I'd like to pinpoint exactly why they're not fitting, but I don't have time to do that right now. I really don't like the idea of using a pry bar to force them to fit. I don't have to force the OEM mounts to fit, so I don't see why I need to do it for these mounts. That just adds additional stress to the mounts, which are already much stiffer than stock (gray inserts for me).

I have the gray inserts and i got everything to line up. It took some work because there isnt much play in them.

With the engine in and only the two side mounts installed (i.e. no front or rear mount), the OEM rear mount lines up pefectly. You have to tilt the engine backward a bit, as it's natural resting position is slightly tilted forward.

With the Innovative side mounts installed (again, no front or rear mount), the rear mount is too far backward, and the bolt holes are no where near being lined up, regardless of how you rock the engine back or forth. In my case, the entire engine needs to be shifted backward by 1/4" or so.

I still want to use the mounts, but not if I have to force everything to fit...

That also doesn't change the fact that the front mount physically won't work with my car, and the alt mount required shimming to fit.

i have the black mounts. the vibration is minimal and they hold up great. i think the solid gray ones would cause way too much vibration (what i hear, i have no experrience with the gray ones)

still i recommend the black ones

Exactly what did you have to do? Do a lot of prying to move the engine around? Did the exhaust line up perfectly afterwards?

I'm going to try calling them again, but I really doubt that mine are made any differently than yours.

it wasnt easy. I forget exactly the order i went in but what i did was not tighten any of the bolts until you have all of them caught.

So likely your fit wasn't much better than mine. I'm not too keen on forcing everything to fit. I may just have to sell these to someone who doesn't mind doing some massaging to get everything to fit.

Or I could redrill the rear mount to get the bolt to fit nicely, but I'm not sure how nicely that'll work. I don't want to move the engine further forward.

for what its worth the guy at the place i bought them ( i think it was race shopper) said that I would have to leave everythign loose and then tighten it all because the insert is harder and stiffer therefore there would be much less play than OEM stock pieces.

I believe that 100%, but with two side mounts in (and all the bolts loose), having the third mount bolt hole off by 1/4" is more than just and issue with stiffer mount inserts.

I'll have to try doing one mount at a time and see how bad the fit is. Thanks for your input!
