Default jdm type-sh swap

im lookin to swap my 97 type-sh due to valve problems and high milage. ive read that a jdm non-sh or base block will not bolt on to an SH tranny. therefore i am looking into doing a jdm swap with lsd tranny. besides needing to swap the intermediate shaft and drive shaft from a base model, what else is needed or not? are both of those shaft needed and base axles needed? also i would want to convert to OBD-I. But i read that would somehow affect the OEM theft system and will not be able to turn the car on? is all this correct or not? any advice would be thankful

If you switch over to OBD-1 you will get rid of the immobilizer in the ecu. and your car will be fine. its harder to switch to a different obd2 ecu. because the immobilizer and the key, and ecu won't match.

But Like I said switch to obd1 is fine and you will have no problems.

Now you are correct in saying the the SH tranny will not mate to a base block. You will need a full swap engine, tranny, intermediate shaft and axles from the base.

thanks for the help. so that would mean i would be able to make copys of my key and be able to turn the car on without programming since that system would no longer be working correct? is so, i need to do this cuz i only have one key for my car and never recieved the rey key when i bought it so im stuck if i lose it.

why not look into the best option out there, which is swap out your SH engine for a JDM type-S, they also have the ATTS system, like the U.S. SH model, so it is a direct swap. It also has the higher compression and hotter cams most people want in their car. It would be best to also get the proper ecu for the engine, or get tuned with an SH compatible system.

thats what i wanted but besides the fact thats the type-s motor is more money, i also need to get ride of that theft system since i only have one key for the car and dont have $300 for a whole new ignition key programming. i would rather get rid of the atts and be obd-1 without having to worry of maybe losing the key.

I Believe the jdm ECU's don't have the immobilizer.

So if you were to get a full Type-S swap you wouldn't have to worry about the keys.

They are pretty expensive. I have never seen the swap under 2800.
