Will it be cheaper for me to pay a bodyshop to paint fenders or me do it myself?

It would cost far more to buy the paint, gun, compresser, and supplies to do it yourself, not to mention it would not come out very nice if you have no experience, it will actually probably look horrible. If you're lookin purely at cost, just pay to get a shop to do it. A body shop will probably want to blend into the doors and hood and it would probably cost upwards of $1000

Like really, I just want to get 2 fenders painted EBP and thats it regardless of how it matches. 1000? Correct me if im wrong but doesnt a paintjob cost like 400-500 bucks at maaco for whole car? </TD></TR></TABLE>

yeah, you are right about the maaco price but the rest of the automotive finishing world doesn't follow that price.

250-500 would be a good start off price, EBP might runs more because it has more craps in it and meaning it's will cost more for material and cost alto more to color match with the rest of the car. An experienced painter can do it all day no problem, forget it if you dont even know how to paint solid color nice. i mean FORGET IT

I have no real painting experience though. Also how much do you think it will cost around to get the fenders painted by a bodyshop? </TD></TR></TABLE>

Wheather it be painting your car, changing your clutch, swaping motors. taking it to a shop would cost bread but saves you <U>your own</U> time. UNLESS you have time to do it, than I would do it yourself. There are plenty of DIYs online for you to find what you want. Im sure you can find someone you may know that can lend you a paint gun, and whatever else you may need.

If you dont have the time to paint your fenders Id recommend a shop. If you have all the time in the world and can take your time. Try it yourself it would be alot cheaper than a paint shop. find someone to lend you the possible tools you may need.

hey man, I was just trying to help you out. If you want to spraypaint your fenders or get them done at maaco for $20, be my guest. But if you want them to look good, and match the rest of the car, then it will probably cost around $800-$1000. Like I said, you have to blend into the hood and both doors, so its a lot of work. There needs to be sticky in this forum about maaco because expletiveing 98% of the people who ask questions in here refuse to take advice and are convinced that either A: maaco is the king of the autobody world and are the standard to which all other shops should be held, or B: painting is easy and you can DIY and have it look great for a couple bucks. If you want to get real, and want a nice looking car, then expect to shell out some cash, because its not cheap.
