A 1" exhaust will give you plenty of back pressure. You won't make any power, but what the heck

To small will be no good just as 2 big will be no good...........2.5''-3'' will work wonders depending on the setup

Why do you want back pressure, the purpose of a bigger exhaust system is to free up back pressure. Why do you think drag cars run open header at the track?

and someone else told me that 3" is too big and it would make the car slower

You need to choose your friends more carefully. Don't listen to self proclaimed experts. A 2 1/2" exhaust is usually adequate for most all motor applications, but we have even seen some cars benefit from a 3" exhaust. It won't hurt you or make your car 'slower'.

It is truly great watching you post b19 your always so blunt and yet one of the most informative people on this site
To the op listen to the people your asking and not your friend whom obviously does not have the same knowledge or experiance as people responding
