Default daytime running light relay buzzing?

So my friend's 2002 civic's daytime running light relay was making this wicked buzzing noise after she released her parking brake. It sounded like a buzzer was going off under the dash until I went and turned on her headlights. After the headlights were turned on the buzzing went away (hence why I know its the DRL relay).

My question is: has others experienced this "buzzing" problem and what was the best fix for it? A simple resolder job or replace the relay itself? If so what is the Honda part # for the relay?

Thanks

I had the same issue with my Pathfinder a few months ago.

It was the exact same symptoms as you are seeing. I figured it was the bulbs, replaced them and it seemed to fix the issue. Then a few days later it came back.

I thought sure it might be the DRL module as well this time.

After a little of messing around I found that if I wiggled the connection to the bulb on the back of the headlight that it fixed it somewhat but usually only for a short period of time, anywhere from a few min to a day.

I got a new pig tail for it at Crappy Tire and replaced the pigtail. Once I had the old one out I looked at it and I could see that it was shorting out on one of the pins.

I would almost put money on if you pull the plugs for the headlight bulbs you will find the same problem. If not there there is no doubt a short in the headlight wires somewhere.

Check this out before going any further with replacing anything.

Also a quick way to verify this would be to turn the high beams on. If it was buzzing and then you turn the lights on it goes away, throw on the highs.

If you have one out you know what light the problem should be because the DRL use the high beam but only a lower voltage to run them.

This is the behavior I noticed in my situation.
