sound problems w/ aftermarker cd player install in 96 ex civic
ok so here's the deal. i've searched and have exactly no clue what is going on. i had an aftermarket cd player in the car since the day i bought it and have had no problems. here recently i've been getting no sound. so i bought a factory radio and player and have no problem w/ sound, i'm wanting to put another aftermarket cd player back in so i can listen to all my cd's (we all know how sensitive 12 year old factory cd players are w/ burnt cd's.) when i install a cd player. it plays sound until you turn it up and then it just goes away, and i'm not talkin you turn it up to blaring noise levels either. just good listenening levels, but i can turn the factory stereo all the way to max and not have a problem. anybody got any good ideas. thanks.
If all you lose is the sound, HU still stays on, then you have a short in a speaker or speaker lead.
To test for this, use the HUs fader control and fade all the way to the front or rear and turn up the volume, if it still cuts out fade the other way and try the volume again, if it does not cut out the short is in the speakers that are faded out, EG; you fade all the way to the rear and the sound no longer cuts out, the short is in the front speakers.
Once you have determined if it is the front or rear, use the HUs balance control to balance to the left and right, the side that still cuts out sound is the one that is shorting out.
