No play that I can tell when assembled and off the car....
Its all brand new hardware that came with the dampers...ie:
Bushings and bushing pin, top washer and nut.

I remember your last thread, and did you ever cut your bump stops? it seems like one thing you havent tried yet.

I am having the same problem with the illuminas on my stock springs. if you dial in to settings of 2 or 1, the knocking lessens. as for your answer I don't know. I already ordered my Ground Control and Koni Yellow combo.
i recently got illumina's and I remember the bushings they provided were larger than stock, so I reused my stock bushings. I probley could have used them, but they just seemed to have a different contour.
Also do you have the metal sleeve that goes in the middle of the bushings at the tophat? I'm asking cause I dont think you listed it.
you said that you swaped the stock shocks back, and the noise went away. have you tried swapping the stock springs back(with the illumina's), just to see if its a shock problem or a shock spring combo problem. I'm not trying to make you do this, I'm just curious.
so have you actually observed the shocks knocking/moving around?
good luck

Yes the sleeve is in the bushings......

Cant. The shaft will just spin, and Im not gonna gut my interior lol....Its tight, trust me.
Thanks for feedback though.....
Anyone else?

Haven't tried em with the stock springs.....but the stock shocks worked fine with my coilovers..(as far as noise)....

Did you reinstall the black rubber circle cusion inside the top hat???
Spounds like the spring is moving around. The only think that would cause this is the black cusion in the top hat, and not enough tension on the spring.

"Black cushion"?
The bushings are there. It wouldn't go back together without them.
"Not enough tension on the spring?
The weight of the car is on it.....its not moving around.
But thanks for the input.

Buddy there is a black rubber circle that goes into the top hat and has circle grooves in it to seat correctly. It prevents the spring from sitting directly in the metal top hat which would cause noise!
#14

The shock shaft goes throught the collar of the 2 round bushings, then the washer, then the nut
If you need pics i can dig out my old rubber cusions!

I have the same setup........If you have the allen key holding the shaft of the shock while tightening the nut with a wrench how could the shaft spin??

Listen "buddy".... NUMBER 14 Is right where it should be, bwtween the top hat and the spring.
I was not being sarcastic to you when I said thank you for your input.

Because, how the am I suppose to do that ON the car. I did it OFF the car 3 different times and used an impact the third time.
Trust me, I know how to use my tools.

Why did you cut the bumpstops. Your not supposed to for the EF chassis. you should've read the directions more carefully. they specify i think for eg and ek to be cut not ef.

I had a similar problem when I switched over to my ground controls. I swore I had left something out or done something wrong when installing them.
Turns out.... my passenger side axle is bad. CV went. Rattle started soon after I put the GCs on, so it was really tough to diagnose. Plus, it came and went for a while.

I called TOKICO themself and they said yes you should if using the lowering springs!

Sired91, you asked about #2 before you edited it. #2 is the black bushings they include that go into the top hat with the collar.
Here is the order of removal...i know its the front, but the back is the same!

Thanks for your image of the parts Al......the honda image.....
Its totally my fault for the noise......ROFL .....I cant beleive I was this stupid.
BUT, I also admit when I'm at fault.........I seriously had to laugh at myself for this one, hopefully it will help some NOOB in the future.
I only did this on the rear, I put the front together perfectly....LMFAO!!!
I had both of the black bushings in the top of the top hat instead of one above and one below. TOTALLY HAD A DRUNK MOMENT......I haven't been able to figure this out until today .....
When alscrx posted the diagram and I worked on it SOBER!!
Do not put your suspension together drunk!
Anyway, here's how she sits now......sexy rexy!
