Default B18C W/ Type R pistons. To tune or not to tune?

Just wondering if me daily driving me GSR hatch with Type R pistons will screw stuff up. Is it a must to get it tuned now or is it okay to wait a couple months until i get cams and valvetrain to tune it all at the same time.

thanks in advance

always better to tune. what are you running right now (ecu wise?) its hard to say.. maybe go do a baseline on the dyno (cheap) and see if your A/F is lean. if it is then tune it, if it looks good then wait till you get cams and valvetrain to tune...

only real way to tell if you will be okay is to run at least a baseline with air/fuel to see... its relatively cheap at most shops to do just a baseline with no tuning.

not sure where you are located but Chris at Whitfield racing gives you 3 runs on the dyno with A/F for like 50 bucks. In Socal...

I have a gsr with type r pistons to and i need to get tuned. I think you should to. It doesn't really run at max performance. I can tell after the cold start and it heats up it just loses some power after it starts using the o2 sensor and all that. After i messed with my maps with a chip the fuel ratio got better. Going to get neptune in a week or 2. Overall i think you would feel a difference when you do tune.

Have to have itr cams for that. Still running gsr ones so the ignition timing will be off some. I ran type r map before and jdm gsr one but it didn't really help too much. Just going to tune later. Eventually its going to happen anyways with more mods lol

maybe play with the fuel pressure a bit too if you have a AFPR. performance wont be optimal but itll get you through until you get the cams and stuff.

Contact whomever you will be using for a tune explain to them your situation and see if they will give you a brake on a retune if you get it tuned now and after your cams come in. I know the guys around me will do that for customers
