Default Turbo project using an Audi B5 A4 K03 turbo?

I have a chance to get an Audi B5 A4 K03 turbo for free and was wondering if I can use this turbo as a homemade turbo project for my B18A? Too small and a waste of time or what?

A K03 is much too small. You could do it, but you're not going to get much out of such a small little turbo. It'd be great for a bike or ATV though

If you want a cheap little HMT setup, i have an Audi K26 and a B series log you can have for cheap.

It all depends on what you power goals are and what you're budget is. The KO3 is the stock turbo on VW/Audi 1.8T engine. The later ones are rated at 180hp at the crank. There are 1.8Ts running around putting 200+whp. That's now bad for a daily driver.

I not to sure about getting a manifold with the correct flange. That might be a challenge.

If you're looking to build a drag car then this probably isn't the route you want to go.

IT'S HARD TO BEAT FREE.

congrats you're gonna be using one of the smallest turbos known to man I think. I think it would be interesting to see how it does on a honda motor though...I used to have a 1.8T and it would start spooling at 2k-2.5k....had strong low end torque!

Ahh I see, so the concensus is that it's too small eh? I just want any kind of power other than stock. So let's just say I do decide to go with the turbo, the hardest part is finding the manifold right? Also, if I was to be bored with the power, I can always throw that turbo and get a new one with the right mani and that should be good cuz I already have the rest of the piping and stuff.. correct? Sorrry.. newbie to turbos... just wanted to see if I should take advantage of this turbo since it's free and has only 40K miles on it...

The "stock like" VW upgrade path is to use a KO4 turbo. This comes in a few different varients; KO4-001, KO4-002, KO4-025. I think the 225HP Audi roadster uses the KO4-025. There are options.

Get the two free turbos and sell them!
