NEED HELP! my DA has trouble going into to Park. (auto)
First off this is our daily driver, all stock, never modded ect ect. Our gas getter and point a to b. About a week ago this started happening. I would go some where like to get gas, go to put it in park (its auto) and the P wouldn't light up and the shifter was stuck like it was locked into park but I could not turn the key to shut the car off and i could not move it into any gear ect. After getting out of the car and pushing it a little the light came on and I was able to pull the key out of the ignition and fill the car up with gas. It seems it always does this when I don't park on a hill. Its like it has to roll very little to be put into to park. What can cause this and why is this happening? I am so lost.
thanks

its not too hard to fix. what happens is condensation builds up from the heat of the cat and it goes upward into a swtich and builds up.
just take off your center councel, then on the side youl see a big blue cord, follow that into a white bracket, unbolt the metal part with the plastic white piece that slides back and forth, spray cleaner in it...wipe it off really good, lube it put it back together and it should work alot better.

yeah dude i don't really know much about it..my guess which is probably wrong is that your parking gear in your tranny probably has some chipped teeth in it...when it combines with the clutch or w/e, the teeth don't grasp each other..then when your car rolls, it moves the teeth, thus, clinging onto the teeth of the clutch, causing it to do what its supposed to do, park...hope this makes sense...think of it this way..u make a cup with ur hand like u have water in it, you do the same thing with the other hand but flip it upside down, opposite of what the other is doing...using ur fingers to clamp on to each other...if u pull...they will stay in place, but the thing is before you pull there is a gap...that's probably what your car has..that gap..then when the car rolls (the pulling part) the teeth then lock together...i kno its confusing and i'm not good at describing things but i hope this helps...like i said this probably isn't the right answer but i mean its worth checking out your transmission...checking all the gears in it..let me know if this helps or not
