Default shot peening control arms? wtfluff?

i was sitting next to a shot peening machine at my work on a non-busy monday, and i thought about shot peening control arms. is it a bad idea? would it matter? just a waste of time? or no point? lets hear some input.

ive seen knuckls break due to fatigue (on a racecar). shot peening would have helped. but honestly, not worth the trouble. stock knuckles are dime a dozen.

i havent seen a control arm break due to normal use.

yeah i was thinking it wouldnt do any harm if done. i have access to the machine at all times. i was about to just go ahead and do but i wanted to find out some info before i do it, just incase it might mess something up.
i get bored at work and i need something to do!

I don't know what good it will really do as metalugical failures are rare at most but I can't see tat it ould do any harm either. As Tyson said, your hubs or spindle/upright/bearing carrier would be the most likely to benefit but even that is an outside chance at most. If you have free access to the machine, I can't see why not.

I was at an engine machine shop recently having street and race parts machined and asked about shot peening connecting rods and he guy said that it was pretty much a thing of the past these days.

shot peening actually requires skill and experience. probably shouldnt be tested by yourself.

why is the "expert" shot peener asking anyone else what he should shot peen?

what does your experience say on the benefits and disadvantages?

how are you a certified ME?
did you take the EIT or something?
have a degree?
im an ME too, and i wouldnt shot peen something myself.
the actual shot peen process is what takes experience. not just knowing what it does.

dont do it.
