Default New to swapping.

Okay, I just bought a STD 91 civic with the d15b.
But I have a 89 Civic with a perfectly running d15b2.

So I was thinking as practice for my first swap, I would put the d15b2 and tranny into the 91.

I searched and found nothing about going from the d15b to a b2.

I was just wondering if it's a direct swap, or will the harness have to be pulled also?

Thanks for your input.

Are you sure its a d15b ? If thats true then its a JDM (directly from japan) vtec engine and its much much faster than a d15b2. So leave it on the 1991 since its faster.

Well I dont recommend to do any swaps or exchanges with your current engines. Its not worth the hassle. Wait untill you can go DOHC Vtec or at least 1.6 vtec turbo.

Hmm.
Thats what the engine block reads.
D15B

No 1 after it or anything.
And it is only dual point injected.
So I don't think I got lucky and got a JDM engine hahaha.

yeah it will be a direct swap. remeber to swap the ecu and the intake manifold aswell. the std intake mani has a restrictor plate in it.

but you may also want to take the time to swap over the knuckles as well. since the dx/si knuckles have a different spline count than the std knuckles do.
which will allow you to use the correct axles for that motor/tranny.
and then you wont have to use weak std axles.

My buddy had a 91 STD and his motor was stamped D15B. It was USDM as they come.

If you are looking to do a swap with very little experience, don't jump right to a DOHC VTEC. Get a 88-89 Integra swap or a JDM DOHC non-VTEC ZC swap. they are straight forward. Plus I'M a D series nut.

when doing this it's also easier to just upgrade to the Si front brakes. Much larger than your STD's. With that look at upgrading the master brake cylinder too.

there was a d15b non vtec engine that came in 92 -95 civics. not sure if it is edm or jdm though. i have one in my dd. they run freakishly well for some reason to. the head also has the patern for a z6 dizzy on them. the one i have is the first one that i had seen, and it still has the writing on it from noyan engines (the closest importer to me)
