fuel problem?
I have a '90 Accord with an issue I don't seem to be able to get solved, and was hoping maybe someone would be kind enough to help me out?
The car won't start. The engine turns but it won't fire up. If I spray starting fluid in the air intake after the air filter, then cover the hose with my hand while having someone else turn the key, it starts up. Once it starts up it will run fine. I got it started yesterday and drove it almost 20 miles with no problems. Once I arrived where I was going, I turned it off, waited a few minutes and it would start right up. But then this afternoon when I got home from work I tried to start it up again, but it wouldn't start without starting fluid. It did start much easier and quicker today with the starting fluid then it did yesterday. It has a new battery, fuel filter, plugs, and a remanufactured starter.
I'm thinking the problem is the fuel pump? I would just hate to spend $100+ on a new pump only to find out its not the problem.
Anyone ever have an issue similar to this, or have any advice to offer? If there a way to check the fuel pump to verify it is operating correctly?
