comp t/a's?
i was able to come across 3 225/50/15 comp t/a's, but BF Goodrich doesnt make them anymore! does anyone know of any compounds similar to the comp t/a so i might be able to get a full set of tires?
hrm.. that can be a sticky situation. Try calling around tire shops to see if they have old stock. If not, there are much better tires to be had for the money. Good luck!

Oh, these are the road race compound? I thought you were talking about the comp t/a street tires.
In that case, keep your eyes on improvedtouring.com, ebay, sccaforums.com, and other racing sites and you can usually pick up some R1's that people have horded and are keeping around. I bought a set of 225/50/15 R1's last summer.

I've tried such a tire mix of R compounds (with different brands) on a friend's car some time ago at the autox and it was "interesting".

Yikes.. I thought the g-force T/A R1 sucked ***, personally. Kuhmo's much better. As good as the original R1? I have no idea... i never really did a back-to-back comparo with those, but the g-force are most definately my least favorite R-tire.
That would make the handling interesting because the T/A R1s had the asymmetrical sidewalls. When I ran on those I was running about 5 psi less than in any other R compound tire because of the very stiff sidewalls. I also ran on a set of the newer g-force R1s and they are not the same tire and the g-force R1s do not have asymmetrical sidewalls. If I were you I would run 2 T/A R1s in the front (or back) and some other tires on the other end, but I wouldn't mix 3 tires with 1 other simply because the T/A R1s behave quite differently. It is better to have a car that behaves the same in both left and right hand turns. You can give it a try if you want, but you could be having more fun that you planned on.

The BFG T/A R1s were the best autox tires I've been on (for stock cars). Too bad they discontinued them and replaced them with the g-force. I liked those too, but the old asymmetric R1s were better in my opinion also.
